Samantha's Journey
I was a drug addict. I was depressed, I wanted my family back, and nobody seemed to want me. I was on the verge of completely giving up. After being in jail for 45 days, I began working under the table at a restaurant…but doing right still felt wrong and I soon found myself back at square one.
Thankfully, God intervened! I met a guy who had recently gone through the House of Disciples program. After hearing his story, I immediately responded, “Man, I wish there was a program out there for women.”I had no idea that a week from that moment I would be committing myself to a year at Graciously Broken. I had no idea why I was there until March when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I have gained a personal relationship with the Creator and I now study His word every day!
Through the program I have learned how to be accountable, have stability, show real love, and gain friendships that are forever grounded. Six months later, I joined the program at Heartisans and began doing career readiness through ACT WorkKeys. I scored platinum level and created my very first resume.
I can honestly say that Mrs. Julee and Amy were there every step of the way. I never felt alone at Heartisans, nor was there ever a dull moment. Because of the amazing people who have poured into me every day, I understand that I no longer belong to my past. Your story could be the key to someone else’s prison. Share your journey!
